The impact of domestic abuse on children and young people

Practitioners will be provided with an overview of the healing properties of sand tray work and
how to implement this within their therapeutic toolkit. This is an interactive workshop and all
attendees will have the opportunity to experience a sand tray session for themselves.
An overview of the impacts of domestic abuse on children and young people and how this then
influences:
their perspective of relationships
their ability to regulate their emotions and behaviours
the roles they then take on within their family
Practitioners will learn therapeutic activities to support children and young people impacted by domestic abuse
with the aim of improving the sense of security, emotional regulation and emotional wellbeing of the child/
young person.
