Hours: 37 hrs per week

Every school day, with the help of our dedicated drivers and passenger assistants, the Integrated Transport Unit safely transport nearly 800 children between home and school!

We also provide daily travel assistance to an additional 650 children, procuring safe and reliable transport for them!

In addition, we can transport more than 300 of our most vulnerable and elderly citizens between home their place of care!

We are looking to recruit a Travel Trainer to promote and deliver our programme of independent travel training for adults, children and young people with special needs and/or disabilities to access their education setting independently.

You will work closely with adults, young people and children who will benefit from the programme, assess their existing road safety and travel skills, develop an individual action plan and support the individual in achieving the outcome of travelling independently to/from school, college and other activities.

You will also engage with parents, guardians, carers and education establishments to promote independent travel.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with sensitive issues relating to young people with special educational needs and/or learning difficulties are essential.  You should be flexible in your approach to work, be able to work early mornings and late afternoon/early evening and during the school holidays.

You must hold a full driving licence.

Passenger Assistant

Salary: Grade D

Hours: (Term Time Only) Hours: 10hrs x 22, 1x 17.5hrs, 1x 20.5hrs, 1x 15hrs

Contractual Status: Permanent

We are looking to recruit staff to be term time who are excited to be Passenger Assistants within our Integrated Transport Unit. A Passenger Assistant is employed to accompany both children and vulnerable adults on their journey between home and school or to enable them to access other day services. You will be expected to work across all areas to meet service demands.

Our Passenger Assistants are the link between parents/carers and service provider staff and represent Middlesbrough Council. Passenger Assistants are there to ensure passengers safety and wellbeing and that their transport is a comfortable and a happy environment.

We are seeking applicants that will embed the values of Middlesbrough Council and will be passionate about our service to those whom our service supports.

Statutory training is given to all Passenger Assistants such as first aid, manual handling etc.  Specific training is available to Passenger Assistants dependent upon the needs of the individuals they are responsible for.
